Cotton Bunchy Top Project

Cotton Bunchy Top Project

CBT Cotton Bunchy Top (or BBT – Bonsai Bunchy Top) is a disease spread by the cotton aphid and flagged to be a big issue. This viral disease caused yield reductions in the 1998/99 season and re-emerged in the 2010/11 season.

CCA partnered with industry to deliver a Cotton Bunchy Top Survey & Risk Assessment Project  in 2011.  Consultants conducted a survey with their growers to raise awareness and help determine the Cotton Bunchy Top situation in the different valleys.  CCA members located in many of the cotton producing areas of Australia participated in the project.

The project also provided easy access to a range of resources on Cotton Bunchy Top including a new on-line video compiled specifically for this project which features Murray Sharman, Lewis Wilson and Grant Herron.
